Funny Scenes of Kecak Dance in Uluwatu
I really like the way the local present portion of Ramayana epic in Kecak dance. They usually add few funny characters to enliven the drama. Like this Ramayana dance.
You will meet some "bad guys" in this story who try to make you laugh along the show. They greet you in many different languages including English and Japanese. Some bad guys also have a "punk" hair cut like the one you see in the video.
I took this video when I was taking my clients to Uluwatu. Uluwatu is an area where you can enjoy the beauty of Uluwatu temple standing on the cliff with the sun set behind. And at one corner of the cliff, there is a stage built by locals for showing the Ramayana dance.
It is, just as you think, another tourist show. But this is different. Just see for your self the spoiler in the following video. There is an unexpected scene where Hanuman, the Monkey God, appears from a place that the spectators will never think of.
Apologize for the "fair quality" of the video since it was only taken by a digital camera, not a handy cam. I have added some visual effects (please don't ask me how I did this, because I already forget how to) to make the show more appealing. If you are like me, with slow internet connection, you will see some "hiccups". And even to post this video to youtube took me a long time.
Enjoy

Wow... Bali is very rich with it's culture, I love kecak dance very much. Greetings from denpasar!
ReplyDeleteThe story line for the Kecak is taken from the Ramayana.
ReplyDeletePrince Rama goes hunting for a golden deer and his beautiful wife is kidnapped by the evil Rawana.
Story is secondary in this performance, though. If you want to see the story of the Ramayana, you should see a Ramayana performance.
Indonesia has a lot of interesting culture and it has to be maintained well.
