Romantic Sea Food Dinner At Jimbaran Bay

Spending evening with your loved ones in Jimbaran Bay is worth a try. Jimbaran Bay, or Kedonganan Beach (15 minutes drive south of air port) is a very popular site of sea food restaurants or cafes. Located just by the beach, these restaurants have unique setting. Many visitors enjoys the taste of sea food prepared with both local and international recipes. One of the restaurant that I recommend is the Sea Side Cafe which is owned and managed by the local Balinese. The perfect time to come to this restaurant is in the evening, during the wonderful sunset. You can have table on the white sand waiting as the sky turn orange and the gentle breeze wipe your face. There are many selections of fish you can try. They will give you the menu offerings what is available there. Usually you will be asked to go to the front of the restaurant where they grill the fish. This is where you can choose what kind of fish you'd like to have. A few of the selection available are: fresh lobster, prawns, r

Every August the 17th, Indonesia commemorates her Independence Day. Bali, as one of the Indonesia’s province, has lots of activities during this month. Fun games and competition are conducted in every village to celebrate the nation’s independence. In the streets of Bali, you can see, groups of students marching. They are practicing for the competition which usually held on the 14 of August. On the August the 18th, there will be a carnaval on the main street in every regency in Bali. The carnaval is supposed to show people the prosperity achieved by the nation, and to relive the freedom spirit. The Rough Guide to Bali and Lombok

Image
I have a quick scan on this book entitled The Rough Guide to Bali and Lombok 5 and found it is very handy for traveler. Especially it contains of detail information about places to go, how much you pay for certain things like tipping, and where to go to stay, or to eat. It is quite an interesting book for me to read, especially to look at Bali from outsider’s eyes. One very interesting explanation made I found is about introducing yourself to some one. The book explains (page 80) that for a Balinese when meeting somebody new, or just being introduced to someone, they will say "Where do you sit?" I need to think for a moment, because, as a Balinese I never bother about where people will sit, whether they want to sit on the coach or on the sofa. Just joking. The phrase "Where do you sit?" is translated from the Balinese phrase " Nawegang antuk linggih?" . Indeed, the word linggih means to sit, but in this regard, it talks about position in the society.

To visit temples in Bali , there are few rules you need to know. One very common rule is that you need to wear sarong when entering the temple. There are other rules to bear in mind so you can easily enter the temple without any doubt or fear offending the locals. This is also to make sure you will not spoil your holiday in Bali. Here are the list of rules for entering temples in Bali, (some may sound funny to you). Wear sarong . Some temples, especially those that have lots of visitors, provide sarongs at the entrance. You can put it on before entering the temple. Why sarong? Sarong is meant to cover the "unholy" part of our body, especially under the waist part. (Note: most of the temples in Bali do not provide sarongs, so it could be handy to have it if temple is in your tour itinerary.) Dress properly . It means to cove your shoulder, and all your body. Ladies in period are not allowed to enter the temple. People whose relatives recently passed away and still conduct
