Here is a list of what people carry on motor bike in Bali: 4 to 5 passengers (father, mother, son, daughther, and puppy). box of chickens dogs goat (has to lie in between two persons) fire wood piled to five meters high anything, even baby elephant I never seen the last item, but theoritically it is possible. :)

Swastika symbol in Bali?

Swastika sign can be seen in Bali, especially in Balinese Hindu temple. I must say almost all the Hindu Balinese are familiar to this symbol. Besides temple, one can also see it in houses, or community building. Even the 'Swastika' word is used as a person name, for example, Ketut Swastika. But why and what does Swastika mean? It simply means balance in relationship. The Balinese Hindu see the life is ideal when they live a balanced life indicated by three good relationship. The first is good relationship between human and the Almighty God. All the festivals, offering in temples, praying activity that you witness in Bali are examples that the Balinese really long for a great relationship with Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, The Almighty God. Next, the harmonious relationship among the human race. The Balinese values good relationship between themselves. Many activities in villages in Bali involve community of villagers . When one family in a certain village hold a ceremony such as cr

Visiting Bali in September

Many people who have visited Bali think that September is the best month to go for holiday here in regard to weather. It's true that there time for hotter and cooler temperature, lower and higher humidity. However, it seems that September is a period that the temperature is not so hot and not so humid either. September is the last month of the dry season and in October the rainy season will start. On the rainy the temperature is cooler and it somehow even in September, a month before rainy season, the temperature has become cooler. The air is just feel nice (again, not so unbearably hot). There will be occasionally some rain pouring on a day or two just for a couple hours even in September. I think this is just a prelude to the rainy season. But when the rain has stopped, the day becomes cooler. If you look at the weather forecast for September, you will see that it will be mostly cloudy, partly cloudy or partly sunny. But then again it will not rain all over Bali, it maybe or loc

Tip for finding your accommodation in Bali.

When planning a vacation in Bali, you will need to plan also your accommodation. Sometimes it is not easy, and takes a long time before you can decide where to stay in Bali. There are a lot of choices, but here is a few tips. First, you will need to decide the area you wish to stay. There are many one popular tourists area, but there three major areas, such as Kuta, Nusa Dua and Sanur. Kuta is the most popular place in Bali where you can get from a 5 USD a night (if you are backpacking) to USD 200 a night ccommodation. There are many places to eat, shop, bar, club, restaurants. Kuta is also known with its Kuta beach, place to learn to surf and enjoying the sun set. Sanur is another tourist destination which is located in the eastern side. Compared to Kuta, Sanur will be less busy, less crowded, and less traffic. It is quieter in Sanur, but you will also easily find hotel to stay there, as well as, restaurant and shopping areas. Nusa Dua is a luxurious complex in the most southern tip o

Stephen and Gabriel from Brooklyn

"We just want to visit volcano, temples, and waterfal. We are interested in culture." said Stephen (please, NOT Steven but Stephen) , who just graduted from law school. So was Gabriel( not Gabe but Gabriel). Stephen and Gabriel were from Brooklyn, New York. They wanted me to show Bali. I was recommended by Gabriel's father who toured with me last year because he was happy with my service. We drove to Ubud, taking pictures of the scenery. Stephen had a 10 megapixel camera, but Gabriel got a 3.2 Megapixel (but he did not realise it and he did not seem to care). Stephen felt sorry him for only having 3.2 Meg and only 256 Megabyte memory card. After all, this was 2009. One should upgrade their camera, he commented. We passed Ubud, and I just showed them the market, the palace and Bu Oka's suckling pig. Stephen could not eat anything spicy because he had a sensitive stomach. We even stopped in Gallery of painting for stephen to use its toilet. Rice field in Tegalalang was
