Watching Dolphins in Lovina

Image
Meet a friend of mine, Gobang, a fisherman in Lovina beach. He would be happy to take you to "hunt" for dolphins around the sea near Lovina. The dolphins can be seen mostly in the morning. You need to start early to catch them jumping and flying in the air. Meet Gobang at the "Dolphin Statue" in front of the beach, and he would walk you to the beach to his boat. Hop in to his boat, and sit down while he starts his boat's engine. And off you go. And so you will voyage around the sea with Gobang. He will show you where the dolpins are. Just look around, the dolphins can appear at any time. Sometimes you can see them at the distance, but sometimes they jump up by the boat. If you bring a camera, you need to switch on so it will be ready to take photos of these beautiful creature. They are very fast for amateur photographer, so get your camera ready all the time. Especially when the dolphins are on sight. Final words, you can contact Gobang at +62 81 353 220 202.I c

Have Your Face Sketched in ten minutes

For USD 10 you can have your face sketched on a piece of paper in 10 minutes. Maybe you can pay less if you bargain. You can get this service in Ulun Danu Temple, close to the two tall shrines that stand on small islands on Lake Bratan. Arriving in this place, you will notice the sample of the sketch being displayed around in the garden of the temple. This is not a proper business place. The sketcher and his wife open his business under the tree in the garden of the temple. The quality of his sketch is quite good. You can see the sketch of Obama, Shah Rukh Khan,Nelson Mandela or Mikail Gorbachov. But not so many people use his sketching service. Maybe you can try to have your face sketched.

Photo with The Animals

I know you can find this anywhere in the world in any tourist destination. But if you happen to see this in Bali, and you want to try to take your photo with these poor animals, you can. You have some selections: the beautiful python, the handsome bat, the cute iguana, and some other animal which you can usually spot in Bali’s tour destination. Places that have this “additional” attractions are Tanah Lot Temple, Kedaton Monkey Forest, and somewhere close to Lake Bratan (Ulun Danu Temple). It is a chance of life time, to conquer your fear by having the python around your body. Remember that python don’t bite its victim, but they swallow it. And also, before taking photos with you, the python has big breakfast already and may not be interested in swallowing anything for hours. So, no reason to worry. With the bats, you can feed them. They like papaya, mango, banana, and other fruit. In Bali, they are fed with Fanta. They like it. Well, hug the python, or cuddle the iguana, kiss the ba

Black and White: Our Favorite Color??

Image
You will soon notice black and white cloth everywhere in Bali. You see it around the shrines both in public temple and family temple. It is also worn by Kecak dancers as their saput (sarong) and wrapped around statue of Dwarapala in front of temple gates. Besides, some umbrellas, and other stuff are also wrapped in black and white cloth. Is black and white cloth becoming a trend in Bali? The answer is no. The black and white cloth is used a lot in activity related to religion and culture. It departs from a Balinese philosophy called Rwa Bineda or the two which is different. This means that the life always consist of two oppositional things just like the color black and white. It can also seen it as ‘day and night’, ‘sadness and happiness’, ‘high and low’, ‘rich and poor’, well, the list will not stop here… Realizing that the life always consists of these “black and white”, the Balinese apply this concept in life in a certain way; when a Balinese is sad because of misfortune, he will
